As a major part of the Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS), the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) serves as the nationwide crime data repository; the electronic lifeline of justice data for criminal justice agencies allowing them to make lawful, informed decisions, as well as to protect them from harm and lawsuits …but there is so much more that CJIS offers the criminal justice community that can heighten their awareness of criminal activities and enhance their investigatory abilities.
How informed is your agency on all of the valuable resources and extensive amount of justice information that is available via CJIS?
This information, these databases of local, state and federal information exist to encourage information sharing as well as supplement NCIC, providing an awesome ensemble of criminal justice information available!
- Fingerprint and other biometric databases
- Law Enforcement Enterprise Portal (LEEP)
- The National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICs)
- Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR)
- The National Data Exchange (N-DEx)
Come join PRI in a new and interactive overview of the CJIS systems training that discusses the benefits of how these systems work together, share resources and how it will influence your agency’s approach to lowering liability, fighting crime and protecting the public with its use.
